Your mission
As a Principal Engineer you will be responsible for developing and operating software in one or more of our projects according to the “you build it, you run it” principle. You strive for great solutions and work within the teams to continuously improve the architecture, software and tooling by leveraging your deep technical experience. We attach great importance to Domain Driven Design, high Coding Standards as well as Continuous Delivery and follow the DevSecOps approach.

You love to actively contribute and do hands-on work with the team and have an eye on the code and architecture in terms of quality, maintainability and tech debt.
You are a leader and a role model for deep tech expertise for the team and the company
You take responsibility for defining and delivering on milestones for each development cycle and the overall project.
You proactively identify project, team or technical issues and feel obliged to find solutions.
Define and follow a technical vision within the team, and know about the evolutionary characteristics of software systems.
Actively take the ownership for designing, developing, deploying and operating software solutions.
Deliver high quality software by paying strong attention to design patterns, automated tests, scalability, resilience, data security and protection.
You help the teams and each individual through mentoring, coaching and sparring.

About us
As a federally owned limited liability company (GmbH), DigitalService is a 100% subsidiary of the federal government and works directly with federal ministries and federal agencies. We do not work for profit, but for the good cause: for a digital Germany.
